Anthony Rizzo used a weird tactic during the World Series to get attention

Anthony Rizzo revealed some very interesting information to Sports Illustrated’s Tom Verducci.
Anthony Rizzo definitely knows how to pump up his team.
Yup. That’s not a typo. Rizzo used to give his teammates speeches before each World Series game in his birthday suit.
Rizzo started doing this because his team was down 3-1 against the Cleveland Indians and he took it upon himself to get the energy back into the clubhouse. Before Game 5, he tried to pump up the team and it worked. They won their game, so he continued the routine. He did it before Games 6 and 7. Game 7 definitely had the most interesting show. Here’s a quote from Tom Verducci’s book,
Here’s a quote from Tom Verducci’s book, The Cubs Way: The Zen of Building the Best Team in Baseball and Breaking the Curse.
"An hour before the seventh game of the World Series, Rizzo stripped off all his clothes, cranked the theme from Rocky on the clubhouse stereo one more time, jumped on top of a coffee table, and began quoting lines from the movie and throwing his best shadow-boxing punches. Pitcher Hector Rondon, joining in on the hijinks, picked up an aerosol can of shoe cleaner and sprayed it in the direction of Rizzo’s groin."
I mean whatever works, right?
This may seem very odd to anyone reading this, but hey, it worked didn’t it? The Chicago Cubs finally won their World Series that they had been searching for since 1908 and they did it in style. Overcoming a 3-1 deficit is definitely something to brag about.

The Cubs will be looking to make another run for the title this year. With their young roster, they definitely have the talent and capabilities to pull it off. If they do, maybe other players will step up to the plate and give some naked speeches? It seemed to do wonders for the team last year.
