The University of Baylor has fired associate director for football operations DeMarkco Butler, less than a month after hiring him.

Things just continue to get worse for Baylor. Now, a newly-hired official has already been fired. DeMarkco Butler, associate director of football operations, has been fired for allegedly sending inappropriate texts to a teenager. The news came out late Monday evening.

The texts were sent to someone who was at least 17, so there may not be any charges coming under Texas law. However, with all of the recent problems the University of Baylor has had regarding their sexual assault scandal, this was clearly not something the school needed to deal with. As many recall, Baylor athletes were accused of over 50 acts of rape across a four-year span. So this would definitely not look good when trying to get back on track.

David Kaye, director of athletics communications for Baylor, issued a brief statement on the matter, and was very clear the school won’t be releasing anything else regarding this.

"DeMarkco Butler is no longer employed by Baylor University. As a personnel matter, we have no further comment."

KWTX noted that Butler the second person over the last month to be fired. Brandon Washington, who was hired as a strength coach, was arrested in a February prostitution sting at a hotel in Waco. It’s been one issue after another for Baylor, which has already fired head coach Art Briles over the entire sexual assault scandal from the last few months.

As a side note, Butler’s Twitter account was made private sometime late Monday night or very early Tuesday morning. His timeline was usually scattered with various Bible verses, but now you can’t see anything on his page unless you were previously following him.
