Legion “Chapter 6” shows off more of David’s power, and that might be bad news for everyone else.

The fifth episode (or chapter) of Legion reunited David with his sister and gave him some unwelcome and potentially destabilizing information: he was adopted. Given that David is already in a rather fragile mental state, it will be interesting to see how he processes that particular piece of information.

In “Chapter 5,” David had several of the pillars he used to support his mental stability yanked out from under him. Lenny was someone he had trusted as a friend. She helped him feel normal while he was in Clockworks and her presence in his mind did allow him to access his powers and escape the astral plane at the end of “Chapter 4.” However, he’s since learned that she has, at least for a while, signified the presence of the Devil with Yellow Eyes in his mind. If Cary is to be believed, she may always have been the Devil with Yellow Eyes, her presence inserted by the Devil to replace Benny, David’s actual druggie friend from before Clockworks.

At the end of “Chapter 5,” David had taken Amy back to their childhood home. I would guess he did this because he felt safer there, in more familiar surroundings. But that may not be the case. The Devil with Yellow Eyes may have other reasons for returning there, and it’s unclear exactly how much control it has over David at this point. Still, the end result is the same: David and Amy were back in their childhood home when Sydney and the others caught up to them. That makes the synopsis released for “Chapter 6” kind of confusing.

The synopsis, found on spoilersdaily reads:

"David goes back to where it all started."

Of course, at the end of “Chapter 5,” he really was back where it all started: in the house he had grown up in. Taking this into consideration, I think we can assume that going ‘back to where it all started’ in this case will mean more mentally than physically.

This could also have something to do with the contraption that Cary designed. If it works and can actually separate David’s mind from the Devil with Yellow Eyes, it would allow us, and David, to look into his past without the Devil’s warping what is seen there.
