A new gameplay series trailer for Mass Effect: Andromeda highlights the multiplayer.

The Mass Effect series is mostly known for its single-player campaign. However, with Mass Effect 3, BioWare introduced a cooperative multiplayer mode. They look to return to that, along with new enhancements in Mass: Effect Andromeda. The newest gameplay series focuses solely on that.

If you played the mode in Mass Effect 3, Galaxy at War, then you’re very familiar. Partying up in groups of four, you tackle certain missions that can change the outcome of the story in single-player. It’s more of the same in Andromeda. It definitely looks more improved, though.

The four-player party system will be returning for this mode. In similar fashion, you’ll party up and try to take out hordes of enemies. You’ll utilize high-tech armaments and deep customization in the process. This will definitely increase your chances of success.

One feature we would like to discuss are the weapons. In Andromeda’s multiplayer mode, there will be four unique types of weapons with different technologies. Depending on the enemy you’re facing, it’ll be appropriate to use a specific type of technology. With this feature, it forces you to be more cautious and strategic.

With a game like this one, it’s a shame that there isn’t coop for story missions. It would play much more like an MMO, which isn’t bad at all. With the huge world that we’ll be exploring, it’s almost ideal. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem like it’s happening. A bit disappointing, to say the least.

A player versus player mode would also be interesting. Players around the world would be able to test their skills based on how they build their character. Again, it’s unfortunate, but we’re still excited.
