Jared Cook is scheduled to visit the Oakland Raiders, who could be a strong landing spot for him.

Jared Cook, formerly of the Green Bay Packers, is the best tight end remaining in free agency. His unique skill set and big play ability makes him a valuable asset no matter where he lines up on the field.

However, after the Packers decided to bring in Martellus Bennett, Cook’s time in Green Bay is over. After visiting with the Seattle Seahawks and Minnesota Vikings, the Oakland Raiders are next on his schedule.

According to Ian Rapoport, Oakland could be a very strong landing spot for him.

Cook would be a great fit in the Raiders offense. They have a vertical passing game relying on athletic receivers. Cook is one of the most athletic tight ends in the NFL, which should play well in Oakland. He’ll go from catching passes from Aaron Rodgers to catching passes from Derek Carr. The latter isn’t as great as the former yet, but it’s still not much of a downgrade.

Cook would likely get more targets in Oakland than he did in Green Bay. After all, the Raiders desperately need to add a tight end. Nabbing someone like Cook would be great for Carr and the rest of Oakland’s offense. It would make it even harder for teams to match up against the Raiders’ fast receivers.

Oakland’s going after some athletic guys on offense so far. They’ve already signed Cordarrelle Patterson, who could be a huge piece to their offense. He adds a lot to their return game, and if they can utilize his talents efficiently, he could be another lethal offensive weapon. Cook is much more of a sure thing than Patterson, though.
