The Arizona Wildcats are the No. 2 seed in the West Region, and should have an easy game against the No. 15 North Dakota Fighting Hawks Thursday.

The North Dakota Fighting Hawks will be playing in their first NCAA Tournament game, but they certainly will not have an easy first matchup. The Fighting Hawks drew the No. 15 seed in the West Region, and will have to go up against Pac-12 Champion Arizona. The Wildcats will be coming into the tournament red-hot, and should make easy work of the their opponent.

Arizona is led by Allonzo Trier, who is a legitimate superstar. The sophomore has led the 30-4 Wildcats to a remarkable season, and some believed they should have gotten a No. 1 seed. Freshman seven-footer Lauri Markkanen will also play a huge role for the Wildcats if they wish to advance deep in the tournament this year.

North Dakota punched their first-ever ticket by winning the AAC Championship, knocking off the SMU Mustangs. The Mustangs are actually a six-seed in this tournament, which makes the Fighting Hawks win the championship game that much more impressive. Quinton Hooker is a very good player, averaging nearly 20 points per game this season for North Dakota.

While it is certainly always exciting to see a 15 seed make a game of their Round of 64 matchup, this one is not going to be close. Expect a 20-point margin of victory at least for the Wildcats, who will be looking to erase memories of their first round exit last year.

The Arizona Wildcats will advance in this one, and will face the winner of the St. Mary/ VCU game in the next round. This team is built to make a run in this year’s tournament, and are fresh off a victory in the Pac-12 Championship Game. Look for a big game from Trier, who should prove to be a serious matchup problem in this one.
