According to Adam Schefter, former Dallas Cowboys cornerback Brandon Carr will be signing with the Baltimore Ravens.

With the first big wave of free agency over, players that haven’t yet signed deals tend to begin to bet on themselves and take chances with their newest contracts. Free agent cornerback Brandon Carr is one of the veterans left on the market and he played well for the Cowboys last season. It appears as if he’s betting on himself with his newest deal.

According to Adam Schefter, Carr will be signing a one-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens that is more or less a two-year deal. The deal is an option friendly one that will could potentially see him playing in Baltimore as much as up to four years.

This deal sounds like the Ravens are protecting themselves in case they want to get out after one year. Carr however has a chance to prove himself and parlay this into $24 million over four years if he can prove to be a key member of the defense.

Baltimore has been loading up on secondary players since the offseason began and Carr is just the latest addition. The team added safety Tony Jefferson at the start of free agency, as they look to put a core together that can help them win the AFC North next year.

It’s yet another departure from the Cowboys’ secondary thus far in free agency. With Barry Church and Mo Claiborne gone, the Cowboys are going to have plenty of fresh faces in the secondary next season. It will be interesting to see if losing as many veterans they have to other teams will have an effect on their defense.
