Dunk City is back and it’s dunking all over Florida State.

Dunk City is back in the tournament, baby! After making waves in the tournament years ago for randomly appearing and dunking all over its opponents on the way to a first round upset, Florida Gulf Coast is trying to do it again.

This time their opponent is Florida State. FSU entered the tournament as favorites to make a deep run with lots of depth on their roster and some top players leading the way. However, when you’re playing FGCU anything can happen. Although dunks are the most likely to happen.

Dunk City sent a message early on. Their first points of the entire night came from a rim-rocking dunk meant to send a message that they were there to give FSU a run for its money. They might not be the same team that took the NCAA world by storm a few years ago, but they have a brand to live up to.

The message must have been received loud and clear, because FGCU has kept it close with FSU for the entirety of the game so far. No matter what Florida State does they just can’t shake Dunk City. They do, however, give up a lot of awesome dunks that are super fun to watch.

Lots of bracket creators have to be a in a dilemma right now. In one sense, dunks are fun and who doesn’t want to see more dunks? But they likely picked FSU to go deep in the tournament as well, so let’s compromise. Dunk City, how ’bout you just go dunk on FSU all game long, but FSU can just win and make everybody happy. Is that cool for all involved? No? Well fine.

It’s a close one going into the second half right now and if it’s anything like the first then there’s going to be a lot of dunks with a pretty great finish near the end. Hopefully involving more dunks.
