Riverdale has reached the midway point of its first season and is taking the next couple weeks off. This just gives fans even more time to speculate about who killed Jason Blossom?
In just seven episodes, Riverdale has covered a whole lot of ground. And after two straight weeks of big reveals — Polly’s pregnancy, more information about Jughead’s family — the series is taking a break for a couple of weeks.
While it will be sad to wait for new episodes, this is the perfect time to speculate wildly about what will happen in the back half of the season. Especially after that final shot of episode 7.
During last week’s episode, Jughead was called in for questioning about Jason’s murder. Seeing as he spent some time in a juvenile detention facility for trying to burn down the elementary school, Jughead became a suspect in Jason’s murder after his car was set on fire.
Add to that the murder board in the Blue and Gold office, and that Jughead was bullied by the football team, and things are not looking good for Jughead. Luckily, Fred Andrews steps in with an alibi and even creates fake time cards for Jughead saying he was working for Andrew’s construction when Jason was murdered. It looked like Fred had forged time cards before, so that could be another interesting story in the back half of the season.
Fred may have created an alibi for Jughead, but there is a pretty damning piece of evidence in the Jones’ closet. As the episode came to a close, Jughead’s father, F.P., got off the couch and walked by a closet that had Jason Blossom’s letterman jacket inside. You know, the one that seemingly went up in flames at the end of episode 6.
But all that can be done until Riverdale returns on March 30 is speculate on if F.P. killed Jason. And when the show does return, it will be a mostly uninterrupted run to the finale. Season 1 of Riverdale is set to come to an end on May 11, so there should only be a one-week break in the back half of the season.
