Vanderbilt committed a foul when they were up and ugh it’s hard to watch
Well, they call it March Madness for a reason. Vanderbilt and Northwestern played a nail biter today that came right down to the final seconds. With little time left on the clock, Vanderbilt drove towards the basket and got a layup to give themselves a one-point lead. Now all they had to do was get a stop and the next round of the tournament was their’s for the taking. Unfortunately, Matthew Fisher-Davis had a moment that he’s going to remember for a long time.

As Northwestern walked the ball up the court, Fisher-Davis tried to press him like many teams do. When his man drove around him Fisher-Davis got confused and fouled the ball handler. This is what a lot of teams do when they either have a foul to give or are currently losing. The problem is Vanderbilt was winning. A horrible moment to have a mental lapse.

As soon as Fisher-Davis committed the foul he knew he had messed up. He turned towards his coach and immediately motioned that he had gotten lost for a moment. Unfortunately for Fisher-Davis, this happened in one of the biggest games of his life at the worst possible time. However, not all was lost for Vanderbilt. By fouling they did save time on the clock to try to win it after the free throws. Unfortunately, they were unable to pull that off.
When they got the ball back, Vanderbilt opted for a way too long 3-pointer that had no real chance of connecting. Northwestern got the ball back and pretty much sealed it away. Fisher-Davis did get one more chance on a full court heave, but that shot fell well short. Vanderbilt has lost to Northwestern and their trip to the NCAA Tournament is over. March Madness is fun, but it can also be heart-wrenching. That was heart-wrenching.
