Here’s how to watch Thursday’s NCAA Tournament game between Villanova and Mount St. Mary’s online.
The first week of March Madness is here, and it’s time to get excited. The first four days of the Madness – with games tipping off every half hour or so – is one of the best times in sports. The number on overall seed – Villanova – will tip off its title defense with a matchup against 16th seeded Mount Saint Mary’s/New Orleans.
Villanova has put together the most impressive post-national championship campaign in years. Despite losing its starting point guard and center from last year’s title-winning team, it posted a 31-3 campaign in 2016-17 that was good enough to earn it the tournament’s top overall seed. The Wildcats have done it on the strength of a NPOTY-worthy campaign by senior Josh Hart, as well as an excellent campaign from sophomore point guard Jalen Brunson and a quality senior campaign from last year’s national title hero, Kris Jenkins.

They weren’t exactly rewarded by the Committee for earning the overall #1 seed. The East region is littered with seemingly underseeded teams, and Villanova may have to get through the Big 10’s 2nd best team as early as the 2nd round. A potential showdown with Duke, who had an argument for a 1-seed, may loom in the Elite Eight. But there’s plenty to get through before then, including its first game.

Mount St. Mary’s defeated New Orleans in the First Four for the right to face Villanova in the round of 64. A 16-seed still has not upset a 1-seed in the NCAA tournament, but there have been plenty of close calls. Elijah Long will lead the charge for the Mountaineers as they mount their upset bid.
