The UNC Wilmington Seahawks face the Virginia Cavaliers on Thursday, March 16 in March Madness action. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
The UNC Wilmington Seahawks pushed Duke to the limit in the NCAA Tournament a year ago. Though they ultimately fell short, it was clear they were on the rise. Playing in the CAA, they followed that effort up with one of the best seasons in school history. Now they have a shot at another ACC foe as they’ll face the Virginia Cavaliers in the Round of 64 in March Madness 2017 in the 5-12 matchup out of the East Region.
Unlike the Blue Devils one year ago, Virginia is a team that thrives on their defense. The Cavaliers are one of the stingiest teams in the country, largely driven by their controlling of pace. However, they’ll have to at least put some points on the board, which is why guard London Perrantes will be critical to the success of Virginia if they’re going to avoid an upset.
For this returning UNC Wilmington team, they’re one of the better offensive teams in the country with a variety of options. C.J. Bryce, Chris Flemmings and Denzel Ingram are all explosive guards while Devonta Cacok is a force in the post. They lost only five games all season, and they have no plans of adding another loss just yet with Virginia staring them down.

Though seemingly two different pedigrees of teams, one of the earliest games of March Madness could be one of the best. UNC Wilmington is a legit threat with their offensive prowess. Meanwhile, Virginia has an elite defense, but have been inconsistent. It’ll be fun to see which prevails on Thursday.
