Here’s how to watch Friday’s NCAA Tournament game between Dayton and Wichita State online.
The first week of March Madness is here, and it’s time to get excited. The first four days of the Madness — with games tipping off every half hour or so — is one of the best times in sports. Though the NCAA has robbed all of us by pitting Wichita State and Dayton against each other, it should be one of the tournament’s most interesting first round games.
Dayton rose to national attention during its Sweet 16 run in the 2014 NCAA tournament. Still coached by Archie Miller — though bigger programs have made overtures – the Flyers are back, and ready to make another run. They’ve made the NCAA tournament in each of the years since that Sweet 16 run, but haven’t quite made it back to the big-time rounds.
This year could certainly be different. The well-balanced Flyers — with a top-50 offense and defense — are among the tournament’s most experienced teams. Most of its major players from last year’s NCAA tournament team are back, and ready to make one more run at tournament glory. Led by a trio of seniors in Charles Cooke, Kendall Pollard, and Scoochie Smith, the Flyers are excellent from both 2-point and 3-point range on offense, and do a great job of generating steals and protecting the basket on the defensive end.

To get back to the promised land, they’ll have to go through Wichita State – another excellent mid-major. Fresh off a Sweet 16 run as an 11-seed last year, they were rewarded for a 30-4, top-10 KenPom campaign by the NCAA tournament – with a 10 seed! Setting aside that this matchup and Wichita State’s seed are a joke, Wichita is one of the tournament’s most intriguing teams. Blessed with a top-20 offense and defense, the Shockers are out to prove that, once again, the Selection Committee knows nothing about seeding.
