The Duke Blue Devils face the Troy Trojans in the 2017 NCAA Tournament First Round on Friday, March 17. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
The Duke Blue Devils entered the season as many people’s pick to win the National Championship. However, they suffered numerous stumbles throughout the regular season. Lucky for them, they seemed to start clicking leading into the 2017 NCAA Tournament. We’ll see just how much that’s the case as they play their First Round matchup on Friday, March 17 against the Troy Trojans at Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, SC.
One of the big reason’s for Duke’s uptick at the end of the season and in the conference tourney is the play of Jayson Tatum. The star freshman has been playing at top form as of late. If he can continue that while Luke Kennard and Grayson Allen—maligned as he may be—step up, Duke is going to be a tough out for anyone they come up against.
Troy unfortunately shouldn’t put up a great deal of resistance against this Duke team. They suffered 14 losses on the season, most of them to teams much worse than the Blue Devils. As such, they’ll need the luck of St. Patrick’s Day to make an upset happen.

Despite their missteps in the regular season, Duke is peaking right when they need to it seems. They were a force in the ACC Tournament and hope that continues in the NCAA Tournament, starting with Troy. Unfortunately, it’s doubtful that the Trojans offer much resistance.
