The Kansas Jayhawks destroyed the UC Davis Aggies and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Second Round on Friday.

The Kansas Jayhawks came out and made a statement on Friday. All season long, the Jayhawks have felt that they maybe haven’t gotten the attention that the other top seeds in the country have and their play proved it against the UC Davis Aggies.

While the Aggies kept it close early, a technical foul allowed the Jayhawks the momentum they needed to get up and score a lot of points. Frank Mason Jr. set the tone with his aggressiveness and driving to the hoop.

As the first half neared it’s end, Josh Jackson went up and put down a highlight slam that rocked the arena in Tulsa. The Aggies were shell shocked from there. They couldn’t contain the ball and their seniors battled to keep the game from getting away from them.

However, there was no stopping Mason or Jackson. The isolation plays and also the plays where they got their teammates involved showed the team to be the most in sync that they have been all season.

There was a little rust early but they shook it off and proved to be worthy of the seed they were given. Now, the Jayhawks are off to the next round and are feeling great about their chances moving forward. The best moment of the game came late when Tyler Self scored as the whole crowd cheered. It was a March Madness moment he won’t forget.

Three Stars

Josh Jackson was a monster for the Jayhawks. He finished with 17 points in his first March Madness game. There was no nerves for him and he looked every bit the part of what people have been hyping him up to be.

Landen Lucas was a force inside for the Jayhawks. They got him more involved in the second half and that is where they really gained separation from UC Davis.

Finally, the star of this game was Frank Mason Jr. The senior was the steady influence his team needed him to be and he’s got the team rolling as they move forward.
