Miles Bridges added another highlight to his season-long reel
Michigan State’s Miles Bridges is well-known for his athleticism. The freshman phenom has a bit of a history of throwing down huge dunks. Heck, he even started the season with a massive alley-oop against the Arizona Wildcats. From one-handed alley-oops to putback jams, there have been plenty of others this season as well.
On Friday, Bridges added another one to his collection:
The dunk itself is a bit of a metaphor for the overall game. In what was expected to be a hotly contested matchup that featured the Miami Hurricanes as a slight favorite, the Spartans have just outworked them to push themselves to a 20-point lead. Bridges soaring over three Miami players to slam home this putback dunk is only the most recent of the Hurricanes’ problems.

Bridges isn’t having his most outstanding game of the season, but other freshmen are helping him carry the load. Both Josh Langford and Nick Ward are in double figures for Michigan State. Meanwhile, the Spartans as a whole appear to have once again found another gear in March after losing three of four games coming into the tournament. Perhaps March really Is Tom Izzo’s month.
Next: Kansas dunked all over UC Davis
With a win, the Spartans will advance to face the No. 1 seed Kansas Jayhawks in the round of 32. The two teams met in the Champions Classic last season with Michigan State coming out on top behind a triple-double from current Chicago Bulls’ guard Denzel Valentine. This iteration of the Spartans is quite different though with Izzo relying heavily on potential one-and-done talent for the first time in his career.
