New York Giants rumors: Geno Smith signing?
Geno Smith is swapping out Gang Green for Big Blue.
The New York Giants have been awfully busy on this Friday morning. It is being reported that Jason Pierre-Paul has signed an extension with the team, although JPP is claiming he has agreed to nothing official yet.
The Giants have also signed quarterback Josh Johnson to a deal, but they are not quite done yet. With a physical pending, former Jets quarterback Geno Smith is expected to be the newest member of the New York Football Giants. ESPN’s Adam Schefter was the first one on it when the news broke:
A new start for Geno will certainly be refreshing. Although he will stay put in the Big Apple, Smith and the Jets were simply an awful couple. In his last two seasons, the former West Virginia Mountaineer played a total of three games thanks to injury. This past fall, Smith suffered an ACL tear that ended his season.
The year prior, Geno was famously known as the victim of IK Enemkpali’s shot to the jaw after a dispute over $600. There was rarely a bright moment for Smith as a Jet, so maybe switching colors may do him some good. In 33 games, the quarterback has completed 57.9 percent of his throws with 28 touchdowns and 36 interceptions. There is nothing to get excited about there, but Smith is expected to ride the pine.

Bringing in backup options behind Eli Manning is a good move for New York. Although Manning has grown a reputation as the NFL’s iron man, you never know what one bad hit can do. Current backup Ryan Nassib has proved to be horrific in live action, so the Giants must have felt uneasy about their depth behind Eli.
As inconsistent as Smith has been so far throughout his career, he has something that Nassib doesn’t: starting experience.
