Following their monumental NCAA Tournament win, the Northwestern basketball team was visited by Pat Fitzgerald
Thursday was one of the greatest days in the history of Northwestern University sports. With their nail-biting win over Vanderbilt, the Wildcats were able to earn their first NCAA Tournament victory. The celebration started on Sunday with their inclusion into the field, and it was extended after they were able to advance to the Second Round.
After the historical win, head coach Chris Collins — the man who was able to get this program to this point — was giving what was undoubtedly the most memorable post-game speech of his career thus far. However, it was interrupted. How rude; Collins must have been so frustrated by that.

Not really, actually. Because the man who interrupted the speech was a more-than-welcome visitor to the winner’s locker room. That’s because the visitor was a really fired up Pat Fitzgerald, Northwestern’s hyper head football coach.

Yeah, Collins will absolutely have his football counterpart in the locker room with him for the celebration following maybe the best win in the history of the program to this point.
This also just goes to show how much this season has brought the entire Northwestern community together. The Wildcats have had one hell of a season, a season that will continue on this Saturday with a matchup against No. 1 seed Gonzaga. Everyone wants to share in the joy with the team, including the much more publicized football program.
Well … the football program was generally getting all the attention on the Northwestern campus, until the basketball program decided to light the world on Friday with this run through the tournament.
Northwestern vs. Gonzaga in the Second Round will tip off this Saturday at 5:15 p.m. ET.
