Report: Oakland Raiders are supposedly bidding for Marshawn Lynch
By Carly Regehr
The Oakland Raiders are supposedly interesting in luring Marshawn Lynch out of retirement.
Everyone’s favorite spokesperson for Skittles might be making a comeback this NFL season. Adam Schefter has reported that former Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch is the focal point of the Oakland Raiders recruiting efforts. It would be a very timely addition, since the Raiders lost Latavius Murray to the Minnesota Vikings. If Lynch does return to the NFL, Oakland would serve as a homecoming for for the Bay Area native.
If Lynch returned and played for Oakland, there would be a couple of things to consider. One, it’s a matter of legally removing Lynch from retirement. Even though he retired with Seattle two years ago, the team is allowed to withhold information regarding Lynch to benefit another NFL organization. If Lynch was to end up in Oakland, which is blocks away from his birthplace, then it would go down as either a trade or he would need to be released from Seattle first.
Aside from Lynch’s lingering ties to Seattle, Oakland is in desperate need of a running back. After Murray’s departure, Oakland is left with two second-year running backs and a pile of rumors. Those rumors include pursuing Adrian Peterson, who was essentially replaced by Murray in Minnesota.

A graduate of the University of Cal, Marshawn “Beast Mode” Lynch’s NFL career hasn’t seen him play for a team in his home state. Lynch began his NFL career in a much cooler climate with the Buffalo Bills. In terms of statistics throughout his 10-year career, Lynch would run with the ball over 2,000 times, while recording over 9,000 rushing yards and 79 touchdowns.
