WWE Rumors: Roman Reigns moving to SmackDown Live?
The Big Dog may be getting a new backyard. Roman Reigns is rumored to be in the process of getting traded to SmackDown LIVE, according to reports.
PWInsider (subscription for this report needed, h/t CageSide Seats) suggests that Roman Reigns could be headed to the blue brand from the red brand as part of WWE’s efforts to make Reigns “the face of the company.” They mean that in more ways than one.
With John Cena reportedly taking time off from SmackDown LIVE to make more movies over the summer — bless his heart — they’ll need a face to take his place, and there’s no better face than Roman Reigns in WWE right now.
There’s another added benefit to this move, if indeed it does happen. Reigns can begin a title run for the prestigious WWE Championship. No matter how hard WWE tries to convince us that the “Universal Champion” is the equivalent of the WWE Champion, it just doesn’t seem to ring right. And, seeing as how Reigns has already successfully battled all of the top heels on the RAW brand, it will be a nice switch-up to see him go head-to-head with some SmackDown LIVE heels, like Baron Corbin and The Miz.
This announcement also potentially scuttles other rumors that have been floating around — specifically the ones about Reigns wrestling Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 34; although, why rumors are starting up about next year’s WrestleMania when this year’s WrestleMania hasn’t happened yet is beyond us. While a potentially great match, it doesn’t look like it will happen if The Big Dog goes over to the blue brand.
