Following the first two games of the Second Round on Saturday, West Virginia and Wisconsin are on their way to the Sweet 16

The Second Round of the 2017 NCAA Tournament got underway on Saturday, meaning that the focus now turns to the Sweet 16. With two games in the books on this Saturday, we now know two teams who will be taking a trip to that coveted round.

In the first game of the day, West Virginia and their press defense were able to hold off Notre Dame. Bob Huggins’ squad had a tremendous year this past season, and they’ll now be able to keep that rolling along as they head out to San Jose. Now they will await the winner of Northwestern and Gonzaga, which is currently taking place.

Now the second game gave us the stunner of the Tournament thus far. The defending champions are no longer in the fold, as the Wisconsin Badgers took down the Villanova Wildcats. Wisconsin was able to turn it on down the stretch, making some clutch shots in the process, propelling them to the monumental victory. Greg Gard and his team will now wait to see if they face Virginia or Florida.

Some said that the first two days of the NCAA Tournament were nothing to really get excited about, but we’re quickly learning that the Second Round may be an entirely different story. That’s especially if the Wisconsin upset of Villanova is any indication whatsoever.

We’ll have to see as the weekend rolls along here, but so far, we’ might be in for all the craziness.
