NBA players have been receiving potatoes in the mail and it’s quite hysterical.
Who would have thought that potatoes would be taking over the NBA? Well, they have and there’s no going back to a non-potato league.
The company, Potato Parcel, has sent potatoes to 150 players in a span of a couple of weeks. It all started when Dirk Nowitzki reached 30,000 career points and he received a potato in the mail. In addition to Nowitzki, other players have started to receive the ridiculous gifts as well.

The fact is fans didn’t send these potatoes to the players. The actual CEO of the company sent them to the players; 150 players to be exact. The CEO of Potato Parcel is Riad Bekhit and he described his reasoning for sending out these gifts in an interview with USA Today’s For The Win:
"“I wanted to congratulate [Dirk] — and the playoffs are coming soon. I just wanted to send potatoes to the players. The thing is we didn’t just send it to Dirk. We sent it to a few players and he was the first one to post it” said Bekhit. “I’m a big NBA fan, so I watch basketball all the time. Coming up with creative ways to reach them wasn’t that hard.”"
Potato Parcel appeared on Shark Tank where they snagged an investment deal from Kevin O’Leary. The offer was $50,000 for 10 percent of the company. The idea of the company is simple: send out potatoes to anyone that you want with a message on the potato.
When they appeared on Shark Tank, they already had $215,000 in sales after being in business for only 13 months. The idea is the latest thing to take the NBA by storm. With the playoffs right around the corner, this may fade into only a memory for players as they turn their focus to the postseason.
