An updated 2017 NCAA Tournament bracket after Wisconsin upset defending-champion Villanova in the Second Round
The Villanova Wildcats werenāt inspiring in their First Round matchup of the 2017 NCAA Tournament. They won by 20 points over Mount Saint Maryās, but were only up one at halftime. They looked nothing like the defending National Champions or the No. 1 overall seed in March Madness. Subsequently, they had to be weary of their Second Round matchup with the Wisconsin Badgers.
Not only did the Badgers take care of business in the First Round, but they also entered March Madness after being grossly under-seeded in the 2017 NCAA Tournament bracket. Subsequently, they definitely presented a threat for the Wildcatsā run at a repeat.
Sure enough, they were every bit that threat to Villanova. Wisconsin played them tough from the get-go. Even with Nova started getting things together, the lead would just jostle back and forth. It was a hard-fought game and Bronson Koenig came up huge in the clutch to give the Badgers a chance. With under 40 seconds left in the game, though, it was Nigel Hayes who played the role of hero.
