Villanova losing to Wisconsin in the Round of 32 busted brackets all over the country, but not everyone is hitting the skids.

March is all about madness, and no team is safe from being on the wrong end of an early upset. Historically, No. 1 seeds can usually rest easy for the first weekend but that raises the chances of getting caught sleeping.

The jury is still out on what exactly happened to Villanova but what we do know is that they’re the first No. 1 seed to be bounced from this year’s NCAA Tournament. Nova fell to the Wisconsin Badgers on Saturday afternoon in a game that is an early candidate for game of the tournament.

Outside of the fact that we won’t be having a repeat winner — something that hasn’t happened since 2007 when Florida won it’s second of back-to-back titles — there’s the bracket busting angle to consider. While picking No. 1 seeds to win it all isn’t always the safest bet, it has been since 2010 that top seed failed to make it out of the first weekend of the tournament.

Needless to say, even if you didn’t have Nova winning it all in your office bracket, chances are you had them making it out of the first weekend.

Who else than Darren Rovell to fill us in on the numbers:

That’s pretty much expected given how heavily favored Nova was to make a deep run in the tournament. However, all eyes are on Wisconsin now, who could continue to bust brackets if we end up with a Duke-Wisconsin matchup in the Elite Eight.

Wisconsin might not be championship bound, but they can’t be slept on any further. Many believed they were under-seeded at the start of the tournament and this upset win over top-ranked Villanova is all the vindication that was needed.

Also, RIP your bracket. Thankfully the pain isn’t being endured alone.
