After 127 races without a win, Ryan Newman returned to victory lane at the 2017 Camping World 500 at Phoenix on Sunday.

There’s nothing better than seeing a veteran return to victory lane. On Sunday, the 2017 Camping World 500 at Phoenix International Raceway tested drivers with grueling heat. With inside temperatures of the cars reaching near 150 degrees, the day was owned by drivers blowing tires and their brakes failing. In the end, it was overtime that decided the day.

Joey Logano won the first leg on the day after starting on the pole. However, he would be undone by his own speeding penalty and eventually lost his brakes near the end of the race which prevented Kyle Busch from running away with the race. Chase Elliott would take the second

In overtime, Kyle Larson and Ryan Newman battled for the victory. Larson tried to go low on Newman but the veteran was able to fight him off. Newman picked up his first win on the year and the first in 127 races overall. It was a day where heat took a toll on everyone and the veteran got a win he’s been chasing for a long time.
