Kentucky Wildcats point guard De’Aaron Fox has a steal and a fast break dunk where he almost slams on top of the mop guy at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

With the game on the line between the No. 2 Kentucky Wildcats and the No. 10 Wichita State Shockers in the Round of 32 in the 2017 NCAA Tournament, Kentucky star point guard De’Aaron Fox comes through in the clutch.

He picks the pocket of a Wichita State ball handler to run the floor on a magnificent fast break jam. Fox was so quick afoot that he almost dunked on the Bankers Life Fieldhouse mop guy. What was he doing?

Kentucky would hold on to beat the Shockers 65-62 to advance to the Sweet 16. The Wildcats will await the winner of Cincinnati Bearcats and UCLA Bruins at the FedEx Forum in Memphis next weekend.

Fox has been one of the two star freshmen on the Wildcats this season with shooting guard Malik Monk. Together, they have helped the Wildcats win another SEC Championship and advance to the Sweet 16.

With the game against the Shockers coming down to the final possession, it would have been very unfortunate for Fox to get tangled up with the mop guy in Indianapolis under the basket. It was a smooth, yet thunderous dunk, but it could have had ghastly consequences if the mop guy was paying even less attention that what he displayed in that almost embarrassing moment.

Kentucky is one of those programs where anything other than a trip to the Sweet 16 annually is embarrassing. In Lexington, they only count national titles. It’s part of what comes with being a basketball blue-blood. Wichita State was underseeded in this tournament. The Shockers put up quite the fight in the Round of 32, but it is Fox’s Kentucky team that moves on to the Sweet 16.
