In Midwest Region action on Sunday, the No. 2 Louisville Cardinals will take on the No. 7 Michigan Wolverines in Round of 32 action. The Wolverines came into the Big Dance fresh off a Big Ten Tournament title, and have been playing great basketball as of late. Louisville has been one of the better teams in the country all season long, and looked like a No. 2 seed in their first round matchup against Jacksonville State.
Michigan beat No. 10 Oklahoma State in the first round, though it was quite a game. The Wolverines beat the Cowboys by one point, 92-91, thanks to an incredible effort by Derrick Walton Jr. Walton scored 26 points in the win, dropped 11 assists, and pulled down five rebounds. D.J. Wilson was also involved in the scoring, as his 19 points were second only to Walton.

Louisville got a great effort from Mangok Mathiang in their first round win, as he had 18 points and five rebounds. Quentin Snider and Deng Adel each contributed 16 points, as the Cardinals cruised to a 78-63 victory. The Cardinals play very good defense, especially against the three, which happens to be one of Michigan’s strengths.
This game is a rematch of the 2013 NCAA Championship Game, where Rick Pitino led his Cardinals to an 82-76 victory. Michigan head coach John Beilein will be looking to get his revenge for that loss, but his team will need to stay blazing hot in order for him to do so.

The Michigan Wolverines have been one of the hottest teams in college basketball as of late, and will be looking to continue that trend on Sunday. Some believe the winner of this game will be the Midwest Region representative in the Final Four, as both squads have talent up and down the roster. If the Wolverines are making their long-range shots, this one should be interesting, but Louisville just may too much talent for Michigan this time around.
