An updated 2017 NCAA Tournament bracket following the eight games played on Second Round Saturday in March Madness
The 2017 NCAA Tournament opened up on Thursday and Friday and, frankly, there was little drama. Only six lower seeds earned victories in the First Round, meaning that upsets were scarce. Lucky for those fans who love chaos in March Madness, Second Round Saturday got off to a hot start early to flip the narrative.
After a West Virginia win, the No. 1 overall seed in Villanova was in action against Wisconsin. It was a heavyweight fight throughout the afternoon in Buffalo, both teams landing big shots. However, it was Bronson Koenig hitting tough shots to give the Badgers a chance, but then Nigel Hayes hit the game-winning layup to upset the top seed in the tourney.
There was technically only one more upset on the day, with Xavier knocking off Florida State with emphasis, thrashing them to move on to the Sweet 16. However, there were other fantastic games, including the nightcap with Purdue surviving a furious comeback attempt from Iowa State. Then, of course, there was the abomination that was the Florida Gators dismantling Virginia and allowing only 39 points in the process.
With that said, it was made very clear that the Second Round wasnāt going to have the same predictability as the First Round. Thatās the type of thing that happens when a trip to the Sweet 16 is on the line.
