ARMS: New details about the characters
Nintendo released a new in-depth video about its upcoming new IP, ARMS, focusing on the characters in the game.
One of the many new games coming to the Nintendo Switch this year is ARMS. Revealed back at the Nintendo Switch live presentation, it’s a game that caught everybody’s attention. At first, it seemed like a generic fighting game with strange and annoying gimmicks. However, it looks like much more than that. In a new video released by Nintendo, we learn a bit more about the characters and their move sets.
The Switch is off to a great start when it comes to sales. We’re hoping that they continue to go strong and a key factor to keep this success going is their games. With a new IP like ARMS, if it’s as good as it’s looking, then we’re in for a fun time.
As stated before, ARMS is a two-player fighting game where you use the Joy-Con controllers. At a quick glance, it reminds us of the boxing game from Wii Sports. You dig a little deeper, though, and you see just how much more complex and technical it really is.
Check out the new video below to learn more:
The first character they highlight is Spring Man. Pegged as an all-around, balanced fighter, he has some unique moves. For example, he has a shockwave that can repel attacks. He’s also very good at counters, which can punish his opponents if they aren’t careful with their approach.
Next up is Ribbon Girl. The mechanic that stands out the most is her ability to jump repeatedly. With this, she can avoid attacks and also use attacks of her own from different angles.
Spring Man and Ribbon Girl are characters we’ve already seen. But the video also offers glooks at three other characters: Ninjara, Master Mummy, and Mechanica. Ninjara has an air-dash to disappear and get the drop on his opponents. He’s very evasive, helping him avoid attacks to set up counters.
Master Mummy seems like a huge, tank-like character. He has a huge stage presence, which helps him corner his opponent and do the most damage. Finally, Mechanica can hover in the air and use a variety of attacks, such as closing the distance with her opponent. She’s also very hard to stun.
