At the Call of Duty World League Dallas Open, OpTic Gaming took home first place along with a decent amount of prize money.
This past weekend, some of the best professional Call of Duty teams from across the world competed in Dallas. The Call of Duty World League hosted yet another LAN tournament with a prize pool of $200,000. Many teams fought hard, but powerhouse OpTic Gaming (Scump, Formal, Karma and Crimsix) walked away with the crown.
In the thrilling grand finals, OpTic Gaming faced off against eUnited Silly, Prestinni, Arcitys and Gunless) in a rematch from MLG CWL Atlanta. Last time, eUnited got first place and were this close to doing it again.
After winning the first best of five series, they had to do it again since the tournament was double elimination. OpTic had not lost the entire weekend. OpTic came out hot, winning the first two matches, but eUnited tied the series up, forcing a game five. However, OpTic won the last map of Search and Destroy in convincing fashion.
Obviously, every tournament is important for these teams because of pro points and extra cash. However, moving forward, the next couple of competitions are the most important of the year. This all leads up to the big one, the Call of Duty championship, in the fall.
A total of 32 teams will be competing for the biggest honor in professional Call of Duty. The prize pool is also a ton of cash with $1,500,000 on the line.
Joining OpTic in the CWL Global Pro League will be 15 teams. Eight other teams North American teams include Team EnVyUs, Cloud9, eUnited, Enigma6, Evil Geniuses, FaZe Clan, Luminosity Gaming and Rise Nation.
