David Ross and the Cubs will be getting a movie made about the 2016 World Series. It seems like something that will be heavily-attended in the Windy City.

Few players are more beloved than David Ross. Despite being a backup catcher for most of his career, he was loved everywhere he went. Ross spent his career playing for the Atlanta Braves, Boston Red Sox, and most notably, the Chicago Cubs. He helped lead the latter to their first World Series in over 100 years, overcoming a 3-1 series deficit to the Cleveland Indians. Now Ross and the Cubs will be getting a movie made about their magical run.

"Radar Pictures has partnered with Ross and the Cubs to produce a film adaptation of Ross’ upcoming book, Teammate: My Journey in Baseball and a World Series for the Ages. Written by Ross and sportswriter Don Yaeger, the memoir will be published May 9 by Hachette Books."

The movie will focus heavily on Game 7 of the 2016 World Series, which saw the Cubs catcher become the oldest player ever to hit a home run in a Game 7. Ross was the team’s grandfather, a role he happily accepted. Without his timely hits and leadership, the Cubs wouldn’t have won the World Series.

Ross isn’t done with Chicago yet. He currently serves as a special assistant to baseball operations for them and is helping them in spring training. The details about his position have yet to be released, but Ross will likely have a mentoring role. Cubs general manager Theo Epstein likes him a lot, as he knows him from the 2008 season when both were with the Red Sox.

Ross is famous for being Jon Lester’s personal catcher, so it should be interesting to see how the southpaw does without his buddy behind the plate. This has the potential to be a very cool movie centered around one of the coolest guys to ever play baseball.
