Users who were dying to save their Instagram live videos — if now have that option, as of today, thanks to their latest update.
According to a press release placed on the company’s website, Instagram developers now give you the option to save the video you’ve created after you’re done broadcasting live. This is especially convenient for influencers who use other social media sites like YouTube to build their influence.
For those who would like to try out this new Instagram feature, you would broadcast the live video as you normally do. After you’re done with broadcasting, you save your video by clicking on the icon in the upper right hand corner. The video would then save to your phone, and you can republish it as you normally would.
This is very similar to Periscope’s feature of saving your live broadcasts after you’re done, as well.
However, it’s important to note that you can only save your Instagram live video. You cannot save any likes, comments, or any live interactions that took place during the broadcast. (This is different from Periscope’s feature, which saves the video and all the interactions in real-time.)
In a statement released in the press release, Instagram seemed to have a great deal of confidence in their ability to attract new users to their live video feature.
"“We are excited by how our community is using live video to connect with their friends and followers in the moment. This is just the first of many improvements we’ll be making to live stories this year.”"
