The NFL gave fans an incredible Super Bowl last season, though the Patriots star quarterback’s game jersey was stolen after their epic comeback.
Tom Brady led the New England Patriots to their fifth Super Bowl title back in February, bringing his team back from 25 points in the second half. After the game, Brady had his jersey stolen from his locker, which eventually led to the FBI getting involved. On Monday, the FBI let the Patriots know they had located the jersey, which was with his jersey from Super Bowl XLIX.
It was reported that the person who stole the jersey was a credentialed member of the international media. That man is allegedly Mauricio Ortega, a former executive for the Mexican newspaper, Diario La Prensa. Both jerseys will be returned to Brady, who will undoubtedly be very happy to have them back.
Staying in the AFC East, the New York Jets added another quarterback to their stable on Monday. The Jets signed veteran quarterback Josh McCown to a one-year deal, which has $6 million fully guaranteed. The veteran can earn up to $13 million with performance bonuses, and should be the starter over youngsters Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg.
Marshawn Lynch returning to the NFL looks like a real thing, although there is only one team he is willing to play for. Lynch, who is from Oakland, will only come out of retirement to play with his hometown Raiders, who could use a running back after losing Latavius Murray in free agency. The veteran running back will turn 31-years old next month, but after being out of football for a year, may actually be the best option for the Silver and Black at this point.
The NFL may be looking to make a change to the rules when it comes to overtime games starting next season. The competition committee is thinking of changing overtime to a ten minute period, cutting five minutes off of the regular 15-minute mark. The change will only occur during the regular season, as the playoffs will be status quo for at least next season.
