Positional Power Rankings: 30 best power forwards in the NBA
By John Buhler
This guy could be higher up on this list, but injuries are robbing Milwaukee Bucks power forward Jabari Parker of an All-Star level NBA career. He was pushing for a roster spot on the Eastern Conference All-Star team before succumbing to his second season-ending injury in his young NBA career.
Milwaukee used the No. 2 overall pick on Parker in the 2014 NBA Draft out of Duke. The idea was that he and small forward Giannis Antetokounmpo would be the franchise cornerstones for the Bucks. Antetokounmpo has more than lived up to his end of the bargain. Parker is proving to be talented, but a fragile player.
When healthy, Parker has a great low-post presence and has active hands on defense. He can rebound with the best of them and has a solid shot for a big man from distance. Parker is at his best when he can run the floor and wreak havoc on the offensive end in transition.
Let’s hope that Parker can bounce back from his torn ACL and have a good second half in 2017-18. He’s still just a kid at 21-years old. Parker has plenty of time to become a superstar like his Bucks teammate Antetokounmpo. However, a third injury of note before his 24th birthday could signify Parker isn’t cut out to have a long NBA career.
