Two big men got into some fisticuffs in Toronto on Tuesday night. Robin Lopez and Serge Ibaka got into a big fight and were promptly ejected from the game.
When the Toronto Raptors hosted the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday night, we thought we were going to get a civilized NBA game between two Eastern Conference foes. Well, things got a little too heated in the second quarter.
Bulls center Robin Lopez and Raptors power forward Serge Ibaka did not see eye to eye on the glass during one Bulls possession. All of the sudden, Lopez was throwing haymakers at Ibaka and both teams cleared their benches in an all-out basketball brawl.

Lopez hates mascots and is often asked to fight masked mute creatures at the pre-games during road games. Being that it was Toronto Huskies throwback night, why not throw a haymaker or two?
Well, the problem with that is that Lopez and Ibaka were both ejected from the game. Both players are certainly going to get fined for their roles in the fight. Chicago may be quickly losing grips on its season, so the frustration from Lopez isn’t all that hard to comprehend. However, Ibaka’s retaliation could prove more costly.
So Ibaka (and Lopez, but who cares) will be facing a fine not more than $50K and/or a suspension for fighting ...

Toronto still has more games with playoff implications left in the regular season. The Raptors entered play on Tuesday night in fourth place in the Eastern Conference and within striking distance of the Boston Celtics for the division lead. Toronto is also in a battle for homecourt advantage with the fifth-place Atlanta Hawks.

Keep in mind that Ibaka was brought in to Toronto to fix a massive hole in their roster at power forward. Without him in the frontcourt, Toronto is especially vulnerable defensively in the low post. This was a brief but exciting fight, but it could negatively impact both teams more than we initially expect.
