Sledgehammer Games will be bringing us the newest Call of Duty game this year, so get ready for a return to traditional gameplay.

Developer Sledgehammer Games has revealed small but new details on the upcoming Call of Duty title. This reveal isn’t anything we haven’t really heard already. It’s also something that we’ve been speculating since boots on the ground style gameplay is returning, but reassurance is always good. WWG has the scoop.

The newest entry in the Call of Duty series will allegedly be returning to the World War II era. In all honesty, we can’t ask for something more. When you look at Battlefield 1, the players responded extremely well to that style of gameplay and setting. Obviously, Call of Duty is a different game, so it’s going to be interesting to see just how they approach a return to wars of the past.

Similar things were done with the first Call of Duty and Call of Duty 3. In reality, they don’t necessarily need to return to this era. We just don’t want to be flying around with jetpacks and using multiple abilities.

That being said, the fans will never be pleased. They were clamoring for something different in the series, so the developers created Advanced Warfare. Some people loved it, but the majority hated it. Black Ops III was a step in the right direction since it combined the best of both worlds. Ultimately, fans still didn’t enjoy it as much.

Infinite Warfare is a terrible game overall and is by far the worst of the three futuristic games. If bundling up a remastered version of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare doesn’t show that they were confident with that game, then nothing else will.

We’re sure fans will still complain once they return to classic gameplay as well. That’s just how things are and it’s very annoying.

All in all, we’re excited to see where they go with this. We’re simply happy that the series is returning to its roots after three long years. We should be seeing a gameplay reveal trailer at E3 2017.
