The Usos defeat American Alpha, win Tag Team Championships on SmackDown (Video)
In a shocker, The Usos were able to best American Alpha on the March 21 episode of WWE SmackDown Live and win the tag titles
American Alpha haven’t been doing a great deal since winning the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships. They’ve wrestled and they’ve put the belts on the line, but there hasn’t been a great deal of storyline. Subsequently, many fans were left wondering what spot they would have on the card at WWE WrestleMania 33 in two weeks. The Usos answered that on the March 21 episode, however.
Chad Gable and Jason Jordan put the belts on the line against the now full-blooded heel Usos and the two teams had an absolutely phenomenal match. Gable took a great deal of punishment from both Jimmy and Jey throughout the match, which made him finally getting to the corner to tag in Jordan all the more exciting.
Jordan came in like he was shot out of a cannon and absolutely asserted his will over the challengers. Unfortunately, the heelish challengers were able to use underhanded means to get a leg up. With the ref tied up and distracted at a turning point in the match, Jordan ate a low-blow that stunned him, which led him into eating a Superkick.
That ultimately led to the shocking results as Jordan stayed down for the 1-2-3, making The Usos the new SmackDown Tag Team Champions:
This decision to put the belts on Jimmy and Jey right now is relatively transparent. Alpha will now get to invoke their rematch clause and challenge to get their belts back at Mania.

It’s not an overly exciting feud, admittedly. However, it doesn’t need to be; it only needed to be something other than a match “just ’cause.” We have that now. And if I had to guess, I’d say that American Alpha is able to pick up the win and bring the titles back home in Orlando.
