Marlon Humphrey

CB, Alabama

The New Orleans Saints are putting on the full-court pressure to grab Malcolm Butler from the New England Patriots, which means this slot may belong to the Pats by the time the draft rolls around. The Pats placed a first-round tender on Butler, who has proven to be one of the better cornerbacks in the NFL over the past three seasons. If the Saints do hold the pick, expect them to draft a cornerback of their own, and Marlon Humphrey would be a nice selection at No. 11.

Humphrey is the son of former NFL running back Robert Humphrey, so the youngster from Alabama knows what it takes to make it in this league. He plays with incredible passion, possessing the kind of swagger you need from a shutdown cornerback. He is going to be a very good player at the next level, and the Saints need all the playmakers they can get on the defensive side of the ball.

Thanks to the trade the Saints made with the Pats earlier in the preseason, they will also draft at No. 32 in the first round. That should enable the team to bring in two good, young players on defense, as they could also use help in the pass rush. New Orleans still has a ton of firepower on offense, so a bolstered defense should be what they need to finally crack the seven-win mark in 2017.
