According to Mike Leach, he was borderline great at dodgeball.
Mike Leach has a lot of baggage. He’s perhaps best known for locking a player with a potential concussion in an equipment room. However, when one looks at his coaching resume, Leach is a winner. He’s currently coaching the Washington State Cougars. In a recent interview, Leach opened up about his hatred of dancing and his love for dodgeball.

To be fair, dancing is annoying. Especially if you’re not good at it. Leach is paid to coach football. Luckily he’s not paid to dance or everyone would be in trouble. Leach attended Cody High School in Cody, Wyoming, so if you love square dancing, you know where to go.
Dodgeball is an important part of any physical education class. How else can a bunch of high schoolers survive rain days and the winter? For real social interaction, dodgeball is a much better option than dancing. What better way to meet other people and become friends than hurling balls at each other?
Leach has very unconventional coaching methods and opinions. Arguably his best one comes from his day at Texas Tech.
“Pirates function as a team”, said Leach, via ESPN. There were a lot of castes and classes in England at the time. But with pirates, it didn’t matter if you were black, white, rich or poor. The object was to get a treasure. If the captain did a bad job, you could just overthrow him.”

It’s unfortunate the Red Raiders never won a championship under Leach because if they did, he might have given the best victory speech of all-time. He’s doing well at Washington State. After starting his career there with three straight losing seasons, the Cougars have made it to two straight bowl games.
