An updated 2017 NIT bracket after the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and TCU Horned Frogs won on Monday to advance to the semifinals
While the 16 teams remaining in the NCAA Tournament rest up for the weekend, the 2017 NIT bracket started out Tuesday with eight teams remaining. By the day’s end, there would only be six teams left standing. Consequently, four teams took the floor with the chance to move on to the NIT semifinals.
The first game of the night pitted the Richmond Spiders against the TCU Horned Frogs and the latter simply had too much quality depth for the Spiders to handle. TCU had four players finish in double figures and six finish with eight or more points. What’s more, junior guard Kenrich Williams had a monster game as he posted a triple-double with 11 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assist to lead the way. Richmond’s T.J. Cline tried his best with 33 points, seven boards and six assists, but it wasn’t enough as the Horned Frogs won handily.
Next up was the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets taking on the Ole Miss Rebels in what turned out to be an exceptionally fun game. In the middle of that fun was Georgia Tech center Ben Lammers. The junior big finished with 20 points, four rebounds, four assists, four steals and an absurd eight blocks for a dominant effort on the defensive end. With Josh Okogie adding 26 points of his own, the Yellow Jackets withstood the Rebels’ attempt at a second-half run to move on to the semis.

No matter what happens on Wednesday, we’ll have four separate conferences represented in the semifinals, which makes for a fun finish to what’s been an exciting and unpredictable tournament thus far. Subsequently, we have no reason to believe that filling out the rest of the 2017 NIT bracket should be any different.
