DraftKings NBA Picks March 23

We have only five NBA games for the main DraftKings tournament tonight. There are plenty of options available, though no one jumps off the page as a must play option. It will be an interesting night. If we guess right, we could take this thing down!

More from DFS

The money line last night held pretty steady at 264.75 DraftKings points. The Bulls value paid off tonight as that lineup made it into the money. The other one was torpedoed by a horrible game from Richaun Holmes and Robert Covington.

The winning lineup was way up at 377.75 DraftKings points, 14.25 points ahead of second place! He found value with Paul Zipser, Nikola Mirotic, and Joffrey Lauvergne. Add that to the big games from Giannis Antetokounmpo and Rudy Goert, and you have a big time lineup!

I can’t stress enough how important it is to watch our Twitter feed right up until lock time. We will try and relay the information out to you as soon as we can, along with any lineup changes. If you aren’t able to do that, my best advice is to lay off of anyone that may be injured. As far as the healthy scratches, we are all in the same boat. The only ones we really have a shot to switch out anymore are the games that tip at or before 7:30 eastern.

Point Guards

Best Bets:

Chris Paul ($8,500): Damian Lillard struggled in his first meeting with the Knicks. Paul struggled agianst the Mavs too, but his 36.75 DraftKings points were collected in just 25 minutes. If the game stays close, Paul could be one of the better values of the night.

Mike Conley ($7,400): Conley has 76.25 DraftKings points in two games against the Spurs this year. That puts him a touch above 5x value if he can do it again. Only New Orleans, Atlanta, and the Clippers have held Conley under 40 DraftKings points this month. I doubt the Spurs keep him under either.

Honorable Mention:

Tyler Ulis ($7,100): Ulis struggled from the field against Miami, which resulted in his worst game as Phoenix’s starting point guard. He should be back on track tonight against a Brooklyn team that is mostly terrible at every position. Even if Ulis isn’t lighting them up himself, he should be back in double digit assists in this one.

Derrick Rose ($6,100): Rose put up 36 DraftKings points in his first game against Portland. The Knicks have still been giving Rose consistent minutes, and they haven’t hinted at limiting his time like they are for Carmelo Anthony, so he is at least worth a flier for this price. Rose could be a very good bargain tonight.

Dark Horses:

Cory Joseph ($5,100): The Heat are tough on point guards, but Joseph is still starting. He has also been over 5x value in each of the last four games. Don’t expect miracles, but if you need to save some money, Joseph is at least a starter with a puncher’s chance at 5x value.

Spencer Dinwiddie ($4,900): With Jeremy Lin still questionable, Dinwiddie bears mentioning if Lin doesn’t play. He has 63 DraftKings points over the last two games with Lin out. Here’s hoping the going-nowhere Nets hold Lin out one more game. Dinwiddie could be huge on a short slate.

My picks: Conley(PG), Ulis(G); Conley(PG), Rose(G)

DraftKings
Mar 19, 2017; Miami, FL, USA; Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum (3) laughs during warms up prior to the game against the Miami Heat at American Airlines Arena. Mandatory Credit: Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports /

Shooting Guards

Best Bets:

C.J. McCollum ($7,200): McCollum has a nice floor, which makes him an attractive DFS option. That said, he only picked up 29.75 DraftKings points in the first game against the Knicks. That would put him under 5x value, but he could still be the highest scoring at the position tonight. Shooting guard is pretty thin under DeMar DeRozan. DeRozan struggled in his first game against the Heat. McCollum is the safer bet, even against the Knicks.

Devin Booker ($6,800): The Suns have decided to keep Booker out there, so we can keep comfortable playing him for now. Of course, the 7:30 eastern tip time helps as well. He only picked up 25 DraftKings points on the Nets the first time around, but he wasn’t the focal point of the offense then. He is becoming that now.

Honorable Mention:

Josh Richardson ($5,000): Richardson has still not hit 5x value since Dion Waiters has been out, but he has been seeing most of the minutes. That alone makes him worth a speculative play on a small slate like this. We know Richardson has talent. We just haven’t seem much of it on display so far.

Wesley Matthews ($4,900): We all know that Matthews is a streaky player, and he has been on the cold side of things lately. However, he has 62 DraftKings points in two games against the Clippers so far this year. He may be worth a speculative play since the Mavs need him and are going to use him a lot.

Dark Horses:

J.J. Redick ($4,600): Redick has been on a tear lately, putting up 26.8 DraftKings points per game over the last four games. He is streaky, and he doesn’t always play a lot of minutes, but he could be worth using while he is playing well.

Austin Rivers ($3,900): If upside is more your thing, Rivers plays just as much, if not more, than Redick. His production isn’t nearly as consistent though, but he does have a higher upside than Redick. Then there is the 54.75 DraftKings points he put up against Dallas in two games this year.

My pick: Booker(SG); Rivers(SG). Richardson(SF)

DraftKings

Small Forwards

Best Bets:

Kawhi Leonard ($9,200): Memphis held him to 36.75 DraftKings points in the first meeting, and there is a good chance they do it again. So why use him? Because he still could be the top scoring small forward out there. It seems likely the the Knicks will keep their word and limit Carmelo Anthony tonight. Use Leonard if you have the money on the off chance that he is worth it.

T.J. Warren ($7,000): Warren could have a field day against the defensively inept Nets. Memphis has kept Kawhi Leonard in check, and I really don’t know what to expect from Carmelo. Two days after the Knicks say they are going to cut his minutes down the stretch, he plays 36 minutes against Utah. Warren is a much safer option, and he has really good upside tonight.

Honorable Mention:

Harrison Barnes ($6,000): Barnes has 68 DraftKings points in two games against the Clippers this season, but he has struggled of late. Barnes only has 5x value twice in the last ten games. Barnes has seen less opportunities with Matthews back, but if you are looking to take a risk, there is a little history on Barnes’s side.

Dark Horses:

Caris LeVert ($4,200): The Nets are playing LeVert a little more down the stretch. His production is not very consistent, but with 25 minutes per game, he can get value for this low of a price. Especially against the up-tempo Suns.

Wayne Ellington ($3,900): Ellington has seen a lot more minutes with Waiters out as well. The Heat are giving Richardson most of the chances, but Ellington has at least 5x value in each of the last four games. Ellington has virtually no upside, but he is consistent production whereas Richardson is not.

My Pick: Warren(SF); N/A

DraftKings
Feb 1, 2017; Phoenix, AZ, USA; Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin (32) against the Phoenix Suns at Talking Stick Resort Arena. Mandatory Credit: Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports /

Power Forwards

Best Bets:

Blake Griffin ($8,200): Griffin only picked up 32.5 DraftKings points in the first game against Dallas, but he played just 26 minutes. Again, you are betting on this game staying close more than anything else. If the game stays close, there is no reason for Griffin, and Paul for that matter, to not hit value.

James Johnson ($7,000): Johnson was a non-factor against the Suns, but that is more a product of the opponent than Johnson’s play. He didn’t match up well with the Suns at all. The silver lining is that he should be very well rested to beat on the Raptors, who are without Serge Ibaka tonight because of his MMA fight with Robin Lopez on Wednesday.

Honorable Mention:

Kristaps Porzingis ($6,900): Porzingis has at least 5x value in five of the last six games. He is getting back on track again. He is not the dominant force that he was in December, but he is a certain over value play as long as his price stays this low.

LaMarcus Aldridge ($6,500): Aldridge has at least 5x value in every game since his return from a heart issue. That include a game against the Kings in which he only played 22 minutes. Aldridge has 70.25 DraftKings points in two games against the Grizzlies this year. He should be able to hit 5x value again tonight.

Dark Horses:

Marquese Chriss ($5,800): Chriss is seeing a lot of minutes at power forward lately, and he has responded with four straight games with at least 5x value. He was even more of a fantasy asset on Tuesday with Alan Williams sitting out. If Williams sits, Chriss is an even better value play! Keep an eye on this situation.

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson ($4,400): RHJ put up an impressive 46.25 DraftKings points in 30 minutes in his first meeting with the Suns. There are a couple of anomalies about that game though. He went to the foul line 11 times, making ten. Also, the Suns have three new starters up front since then. He is an interesting dice roll, but don’t expect a game like the first.

Noah Vonleh ($3,800): Vonleh has quietly put up at least 6x value in four straight games. He is seeing strong minutes for Portland, and is playing very well. The secret is out in DFS circles, but he is the kind of value you want tonight. Find separation elsewhere.

My pick: Chriss(PF), Vonleh(F); Porzingis(PF), Aldridge(F), Chriss(UTIL)

DraftKings
Mar 9, 2017; Portland, OR, USA; Portland Trail Blazers center Jusuf Nurkic (27) reacts against the Philadelphia 76ers during the overtime at the Moda Center. Mandatory Credit: Craig Mitchelldyer-USA TODAY Sports /

Center

Best Bets:

Hassan Whiteside ($8,300): Whiteside says he is playing, and the Heat haven’t disproved his statement, so he goes into the game as probable. If Whiteside plays, I like him again tonight. He has 90.5 DraftKings points in two games against the Raptors who are without Ibaka. Expect him near that production again as long as his finger is okay.

Jusuf Nurkic ($7,600): Nurkic is back on track with at least 5x value in each of the last four games. The Knicks are still without Joakim Noah, who is the only true defender they have on the inside. The ability of Nurkic to put up numbers in every category makes him a strong DFS play.

Honorable Mention:

DeAndre Jordan ($6,700): Jordan picked up 64.5 DraftKings points in two games against Dallas this year, and that was with Andrew Bogut still around. He has the potential for 5x value or a little more tonight. Dallas is still tough up front, but Jordan is playing well right now.

Dark Horses:

Nerlens Noel ($4,600): Noel has been very inconsistent since his arrival in Dallas. In his one game against the Clippers this year though, he went nuts on them. Noel racked up 46 DraftKings points in just 29 minutes! If Dallas gives him enough run tonight, he could be a fantastic value play.

Alex Len ($4,500): Len picked up 33.75 DraftKings points on Tuesday night with Alan Williams out. If Williams sits again, Len could have a huge game against the Nets. Brook Lopez is not known for his defense.

My pick: Nurkic(C), Len(UTIL); Whiteside(C)
