2017 NFL Draft: Kansas City Chiefs 7-round mock
By John Buhler
Fourth Round
Kansas City may have two studs in the secondary in safety Eric Berry and Marcus Peters at cornerback, but it should still look to add a piece in the back-end of its defense at No. 132 in the fourth round. Florida Gators safety Marcus Maye could be that pick.
The Gators aren’t the secondary factory of LSU, but they are a close second to the Tigers in the SEC. Sorry, Alabama, but we all know that’s just Nick Saban out-scheming lousy offensive minds in the SEC.
Regardless, Maye has been a part of two great Florida defenses under head coach Jim McElwain. The Gators have won the SEC East each of the last two seasons with Maye playing a big role in that secondary.
Kansas City could elevate Maye to a starting level player by mid-season under the right coaching. In a worst case scenario, Maye can play defensive back in some sub-packages and maybe some special teams in his first year with the Chiefs.
