West Virginia forward Sagaba Konate denied Gonzaga forward Johnathan Williams at the hoop in epic fashion on Thursday night.
The game between the Gonzaga Bulldogs and West Virginia Mountaineers was an absolute grind in the Sweet 16 on Thursday night. The Mountaineers played suffocating defense and both teams had to earn their baskets at the hoop. There were no free shots given at the hoop.
Sagaba Konate decided to make an emphatic statement in that regard in the second half. As the Mountaineers were trailing and looking for a spark, Konate managed to wake up his team with a massive block.
As Johnathan Williams went right at the hoop, Konate turned into an absolute tank and blocked him so hard the entire team got fired up. It turned into a run that allowed the Mountaineers to take the lead.

Konate has always shown a lot of personality on the floor with his play and it’s blocks like that make West Virginia have the reputation that they do. They aren’t afraid to get gritty and take on all challengers at the rim.
