Phoenix Suns second-year guard Devin Booker dropped 70 points on Friday night and left the Twitter world in awe
The majority of the sports world, basketball fans in particular, have their attention set on March Madness this weekend. After all, the Sweet 16 is underway, so what could possibly be better than that? Phoenix Suns second-year guard Devin Booker offered up a pretty solid counter-point in their Friday night matchup with the Boston Celtics.
In the first half, the Celtics absolutely put a hurting on the Suns. Boston led by 23 points going into the locker room at home. Then Devin Booker decided to turn into a white-hot supernova and things got just a bit crazy.
Having just turned 20 years old at the end of October, Booker was lights-out in the second half. He couldn’t miss, was getting to the line, and was doing everything else as well. He pushed his total to 52 points with six minutes left on the clock, an impressive feat. But then he really took it up a notch.
Admittedly thanks to some late-game antics to try and get him to more opportunities, Booker put up 18 points in the final six minutes of play to finish with 70 points in the game. Even more impressive, he added six assists, eight rebounds and three steals as well. And still the tank remained strong with the Suns as the still won by 10 points.
Needless to say, the majority of people couldn’t believe the events that transpired. Subsequently, the collective whole of Twitter stood in awe of what the 20-year-old did on Friday night. Here’s what they had to say in 140 characters or less:

Once again, we just need to appreciate how incredible it is that this young man put up 70 points and his team still lost by double-digits. Simply unbelievable.
