When does Kendrick Lamar’s new album drop?
‘The Heart Part 4’ is the first single off of the next Kendrick Lamar album, but when will the new album be released?
In each of 2015 and 2016, Kendrick Lamar blessed the masses with an album and new material for his fans to enjoy. The former marked the release of To Pimp a Butterfly, which went on to win “Best Rap Album” at the Grammys. Meanwhile, the 2016 release wasn’t necessarily a studio release, but untitled unmastered. featured unpolished and unworked demos from the 29-year-old artist.
Now it’s 2017, though, and Kendrick Lamar is already blessing fans with new music—even if it’s only a single for now. On Thursday, the Compton-based rapper tweeted out the iTunes link to release his new single, “The Heart Part 4.” As stated, this is the fourth installment in a series that Lamar has long been doing. However, Part 3 was released some five years ago, well before he reached the immense fame and notoriety he currently enjoys.
“The Heart Part 4” doesn’t hold back in the slightest, which is far from unexpected when you think about the passion that Lamar grabs the mic with. He goes after Drake (subtly), Donald Tump (directly) and a litany of others throughout the verses on the new track.
With the release of new music, even just a song, it’s going to start a frenzy about when fans can expect the next Kendrick Lamar masterpiece. It’s a fair question to ask, but fans might not have to wait long—like at all. At the end of “The Heart Part 4,” Kendrick has a line that may confirm the release date of his next project/album.
Lamar proclaims, “Y’all got ’til April 7 to get y’all s*** together.”

Yes, there are plenty of things that he could be teasing coming in just under two weeks. However, for now, we almost have to assume (or hopefully thing) that this new Kendrick Lamar album should be released on April 7. Of course, that will be an excruciatingly long wait.
