Nobody truthfully expected the North Carolina Tar Heels to struggle to get to the Sweet 16 in 2017 March Madness. Yet they barely survived in the Second Round. With title hopes on their mind, they need to shore things up quickly on Friday, March 24 as they take on the Butler Bulldogs.
Joel Berry has been integral to the success of the Tar Heels this season. However, the North Carolina point guard was abysmal in the win over Arkansas. Both he and Justin Jackson have to step up and be leaders. Specifically in the matchup against Butler, the likes of Kennedy Meeks and Isaiah Hicks must assert their dominance in the frontcourt.
Butler on the other hand is going to need their guards to step up to the occasion and control the game, especially the pace. North Carolina likes to run and Butler can—but that’d play right into the hands of the Heels. Instead, the likes of Tyler Wideman and Kelan Martin off the bench have to play their game and not get baited.
