With a big win over Baylor, South Carolina advances to the Elite Eight on Sunday. What does the updated 2017 NCAA Tournament bracket look like?
The Sweet 16 is coming to an end and the tournament is flying by. It seems like just yesterday we were tipping off the first round, but the Elite Eight is setting up nicely. After another South Carolina upset win, here’s what the updated NCAA Tournament bracket looks like on Friday night.
South Carolina’s matchup with Baylor was the second game of the night, following North Carolina’s big win over Butler in the South Region. Could the Gamecocks and the Tar Heels meet up in the national title game? It’s very possible at this point.
Baylor was the favorite heading into the matchup with South Carolina, but the Gamecocks had just pulled off a major upset over Duke in the round of 32. Following the win over the Blue Devils, an upset over Baylor didn’t seem completely out of the norm for South Carolina.
The Gamecocks went on an 18-0 run near the end of the first half to take a 15-point lead into halftime and they just built on that in the second half to win, 70-50.

South Carolina’s win puts it in the Elite Eight for the first time in school history after making the Sweet 16 for the first time as well. Can the Gamecocks continue this cinderella run all the way to the Final Four?

Frank Martin has done a heck of a job with the Gamecocks. He’s been with the program for five years and delivered the first tournament win in over 40 wins against Marquette and now has advanced to the Elite Eight. This run is really something to behold.
