Gonzaga’s Josh Perkins had a fast break slam and almost took out the lady mopping the floor along the way in the Elite Eight on Saturday.
Someone on the court during play that isn’t involved in the game can turn out to be disaster. Whether it’s a fan running onto the court, a coach or even the person mopping the floor, disaster is always around the corner. In the Elite Eight battle between Gonzaga and Xavier on Saturday, disaster almost took place.
As Xavier dribbled up the court, the lady with the mop ran out to dry up the floor. Unfortunately for her, Gonzaga’s Josh Perkins stole the ball and hit the fast break. She was stuck on the court as he was forced to slow down. Nonetheless, he put down the slam and made her Internet famous.

The people with the mops know that speed is key. However, sometimes no one can be prepared to be almost ran over. The mops are needed to dry up the floor so players don’t end up slipping on the floor and hurting themselves.

Fortunately for Perkins, he had the awareness to slow up real quick and still finished with the bucket. It’s now going to be a sports clip that lives in infamy because of the way she couldn’t get off the floor.
This is what the NCAA Tournament is designed for — entertaining games and watching the mop people almost get run down. The people with mops at the Final Four better be ready for the arrival of Perkins.
