LeBron James might miss another game, but this time he says it’s not rest.

Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James is questionable for tonight’s game against the Washington Wizards after scratching his cornea. During Friday’s win over the Charlotte Hornets, James drove in for a layup and got poked in the eye. On top of this he took a hard fall late in the game, but stayed in for the finish and helped Cleveland earn a much-needed win.

James missing games recently for rest has been a divisive topic in the NBA community. Many people believe that stars like James shouldn’t rest, because fans are paying for tickets with the intent to see these players. The other side of that argument is these players are trying to extend not only their careers, but give themselves the best chance at competing for a title down the road. With tonight’s game being the second of a back to back, the question of rest popped up last night following the win. James made it very clear that if he doesn’t play it will be due to injury. Not rest.

“If coach decides to give me a game off, it’s not because I’m resting,” James said, via the Associated Press. “It’s because I’m banged up.”

James reportedly couldn’t keep his right eye open last night and complained of blurry vision. With that going on it makes sense why Cleveland would be cautious about playing him at any point of the season. Not just March when teams are more prone to resting their stars. Having James risk further injury just because of some backlash Cleveland received last week would be incredibly irresponsible on the part of Cleveland.

If people are really concerned about Cleveland resting too much then they should pay attention to the status reports of Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving who, at the moment, are expected to play.
