A wild sequence in the Elite Eight saw Kentucky Wildcats guard Malik Monk tie the game and subsequently saw North Carolina forward Luke Maye hit the winner.

They don’t call it March Madness for nothing. In what might have been the most exciting finish to an NCAA Tournament game yet, the North Carolina Tar Heels went from disappointment to elation in a matter of seconds, thanks to Luke Maye.

Holding the lead going into the final minute, the Tar Heels managed to squander it and allow the Wildcats to tie it after Malik Monk hit another huge clutch three. With no timeouts remaining, the Tar Heels had to rush down the floor and get the shot off.

Maye had the ball passed to him from deep and he buried the jumper. There was absolutely no time at all to process the crazy sequence of plays that had just occurred. There wasn’t any time at all for Kentucky to celebrate tying it, as the Tar Heels were already on the other end of the floor winning the game.

Kentucky wouldn’t even be able to get the ball  in on time and that would be it. The Tar Heels are going back to the Final Four once again and will try to chase down the championship that evaded them on a heartbreaking shot last year.

March Madness is all about classic moments and this certainly was the craziest sequence of the tournament thus far. On this day in Memphis, Maye made himself a hero in Chapel Hill.
